TyTans Archery Club
Our archery program has been expanding, and now we have a youth archery club! A great way for your kids to be active in a beneficial environment. Read below for Mr. John’s letter about the club:
Dear Kids-Youth-Parents-Grandparents,
This letter is to let you know about TyTans Archery Club (Teller Youth Team Archery). It is just for kids/youth, male/female, ages 8 to 17. We meet at Cripple Creek Park & Rec (CCP&R) most Saturdays from 10:00 to 12:00, and from 12:00 to 2:00.
Why archery you may ask. Well, studies show that archery helps kids/youth focus, learn patience, develop self-discipline/self-control/self-confidence, concentrate, get some exercise, gain emotional intelligence, and through all this they can become better students in school!
Another advantage of archery is that it is truly a lifelong sport for all ages, and ANYBODY can learn how to shoot, and most that do love it! You don’t have to be athletic, big, strong, fast, or smart. People with mental & physical disabilities, and even blind people shoot and compete in archery. My youngest student is 3 years 5 months, and the oldest one is 80. It truly is a sport for EVERYONE! (Watch the following on You Tube: blind archery, armless archer, archery bow hunter shoots with teeth, Kevin Evans Archery)
Following are the details about the TyTans Archery Club:
TyTans is a new kids/youth archery club at CCP&R (and hopefully Woodland Park). Kids/youth are invited to come to TyTans and try it out three times for FREE! If they like it and want to continue, then there is a one time membership fee of $20 which includes a T-Shirt. We meet most Saturday from 10:00 to 12:00 and 12:00 to 2:00 for archery education, shooting practice and coaching. We are actually training to go to indoor and outdoor tournaments and 3-D shoots around the state. There is a cost for these events ranging from $10 to about $35 per event plus transportation (we will car pool), but the coaching & practice at CCP&R is FREE.
Even if you have never tried archery but would like to that’s great. We love teaching beginners how to shoot properly and safely. (I’m a Level 3 Certified Archery Instructor/Coach through USA Archery, the Olympic branch of the archery world.) And, if you don’t have any equipment no worries. We have everything you need right here to use for FREE!
If you are interested in being part of this program or you have questions, please call me any time at 719-930-7081. (Please DO NOT TEXT!) Let’s all get involved and make Teller County “An Archery Force to be Reckoned With,” and above all LET’S HAVE FUN!!!
Best Regards,
Mr. John – AKA Coach
